Today I’ll leave Fes for Chefchaouen, the isolated and sacred city surrounded by the Rif Mountains. I’ll spend the day photographing the beautiful blue washed buildings and of course more bartering. Today I’ll probably wander around Fes and try to navigate the labyrinth of alleyways inside the Medina. Bartering with locals will definitely be on my agenda. View the journey in Google Maps.
After getting back to Mekens by taxi from Volubilis we explored the Medina and chilaxed in the Place el Hedim. We will also visit the great palace gate Bab Mansour and the Mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. View the journey in Google Maps.
This morning I took a short trip to the Roman ruins of Volubilis; one of the most remote bases of the Roman Empire. After exploring the area I took a taxi back to Meknes to finally see more of the city. Meknes has many grandeur architectural features thanks to the ruthless Sultan Moulay Ismail. After exploring Rabat and having lunch I boarded the train for Meknes, which took about an hour. After arriving I transferred to a taxi and continued north to Moulay Idriss for about forty five minutes. It’s been a long day so luckily tonight I will be staying with a local family in their cozy guest house. View the journey in Google Maps.
It is the morning of day two and I have arrived by train in Rabat, a city rich with history. My morning includes spending a few hours taking a stroll through the city’s Old Quarter Medina. I’ll also hike up to the Kasbah des Oudaias for a view over the Atlantic Ocean. View the journey in Google Maps.
After many hours of flying and waiting in airports I have arrived in the wonderful Casablanca (Dar-el-Beida), Morocco. My day includes wandering the Medina and eventually making my way to the hotel, which you can view in the map below. View the journey in Google Maps.
